BERLIOZ, Hector (1803-1869). Three autograph letters signed:
to 'Monsieur Tariot jeune', 12 rue St Denis, Montmartre [Paris], 4 December n.y., asking him to be one of the harpists AT A PERFORMANCE OF THE SYMPHONIE FANTASTIQUE with Larivière 'at my concert on Sunday 13 December ... We shall rehearse once the evening before', one page, 8vo, integral address leaf;
to [Sebastian] Erard, n.p., 2 December n.y., asking him to send an article of Berlioz's, of which he has not retained a copy, favourably reviewing Erard's pianos, one page, 8vo;
to [Frederick] Gye, 17 Old Cavendish Street [London], n.d. ('Jeudi soir'), asking him to include some notes [not present] 'when you design the poster for my opera ... They are useful at least, if not necessary. I place myself in your hands for some tickets (as many as you can manage) for the first performance', one page, 8vo.

Sebastian Erard (1752-1831) was a maker of musical instruments, inventor of the two-movement harp and the modern piano. Frederick Gye (1809-1878) obtained the lease of the opera house at Covent Garden in 1849 and continued to run the opera house until 1877. (3)
