LISZT, Franz (1811-1886). Autograph letter signed to an unidentified correspondent ('Hochwürdiger, lieber Cousin'), Budapest, 11 March 1882, in German, endorsing two pieces composed by the recipient, a 'Missa facilis a Capella' and '16 Consentus sacri breves', as providing good, traditional church music, but criticising their monotony ('eine gewisse, ehrwürdige, kirchliche Monotonie'); he nevertheless hopes that the pieces will enjoy a wide circulation once printed, and encloses, in returning the manuscripts, a 'tranquil organ mass' ('einer stillen Orgel Messe') of his own, three pages, 8vo, on a bifolium (split through at horizontal fold, light browning).
