Butterfly in Buenos Aires. Puccini is about to depart for Abetone, where he invites Ricordi to join him. Regarding 'Butt. in America', he has received 'una fila di lettere e biglietti da B. Aires -- con rallegramenti etc di persone sconosciute. Si vede dunque che l'opera è andata bene'. For a forthcoming production in Lucca, he is inclined to let it be -- not least because he is not inclined to come down from Abetone to attend rehearsals in the heat. He is much more concerned about the threatening failure of a production in Genoa -- 'Ma è proprio vero che Genova minaccia di andare a monte?'. Perhaps something can be arranged.

Puccini visited Buenos Aires himself in 1905 to observe the success of the production of Butterfly at first hand.
