A WHITE JADE 'BOYS' VASE
LATE QING DYNASTY

Of flattened form, the main body carved in high relief as a lotus flower with two layers of petals, edges of each petal detailed with a band containing circular dots, all enclosing a trefoil above a ruyi-head, the tapering neck flanked with a pair of handles formed as a pair of boys, each with their backs against the sloping sides, hands clasped together, knees bent and standing on a lotus pod, all raised on a waisted oval foot, the semi-transparent white stone of even tone with minor opaque white inclusions
