GOSDEN, Thomas -- [Gervase MARKHAM (1568?-1637)]. The Young Sportsman's Instructor. London: reprinted for T. Gosden by J. Johnson, 1820.
64° (65 x 40mm). Woodcut frontispiece. (Occasional light browning and soiling.) In a Gosden binding of brown calf ornately gilt, Gosden's tools on spine and at centre of sides, gilt edges (rubbed).
A paper copy of Gosden's miniature reissue of Markham's Sportsman's Instructor. The binding is very similar to that of the previous lot; but owing to the thickness of the spine of the vellum copy, its decoration is more ornate than that of this copy. The sides are identical except that the hunting horn tool of the vellum copy is in gilt; here it is in blind.
