PRESENTATION COPY TO H.S. ALTHAM (one-page autograph letter signed from Weston to Altham, dated Kidderminster, 29 June 1929, loosely inserted, reading: "A few years ago I read your wonderful book -- 'The History of Cricket' and it inspired me to start a cricket book collection. I am venturing to send you a little book that I have written and trust it will be of some interest to you").

FIRST ISSUE. NO. 5 OF 12 COPIES signed by the author. As Altham inspired Weston, so Weston's book inspired Desmond Eagar who wrote: "I am never tired of looking at this small work, which tempted me to try and do the same thing" (See the Eagar Sale, 21 April 2005, lot 13). Padwick 41.
