Of abstract openwork design, the irregularly-shaped textured gold wires contrasting with the stylised brilliant-cut diamond flames, with London hallmarks for 18 carat gold and 1965, 10.0 cm. long, in original black leather Andrew Grima case, the lid embossed 'Presented to Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret Countess of Snowdon on her admission to the Freedom of the Haberdashers Company 11th May 1966' under the Haberdashers' coat-of-arms
Maker's mark H J Co. for Heller Jewellery Company

Grima Retrospective, Goldsmiths Hall, London, 1991, p. 42, no. 4, where it is noted that this brooch won the Duke of Edinburgh's Prize for Elegant Design in 1966. This was also the year the first Grima shop was opened in Jermyn Street by Lord Snowdon.
