Lot Essay

Brando uses an identical gun in his role as Terry Malloy during the scene in Johnny Friendly's bar - he marches into Johnny Friendly's bar brandishing the gun as he attempts to intimidate the mobsters. Father Barry [Karl Malden] convinces Brando to testify in court rather than resorting to violence and Brando ends the scene by dramatically throwing the gun at a framed photograph of a smiling Johnny Friendly.
