'Sogno' - der Traum - ist ein Hauptwerk des 1880 in Giubiasco bei Bellinzona geborenen Künstlers Augusto Sartori. Zwischen 1905 und 1910 entstanden, ist es zugleich eines seiner komplexesten Gemälde. Sartoris erste repräsentative Ausstellung in der Schweiz - nachdem er 1920, 1922 und 1924 an der Biennale in Venedig vertreten war - fand 1933 im Palazzo Civico in Bellinzona statt. Unter den 33 gezeigten Arbeiten war auch 'Sogno' zu sehen, das Sartori gemeinsam mit zwei seiner Werke - 'Annunciazione' (Verkündigung) und 'Alla fonte' (An der Quelle) - zu einer Art Triptychon mit der Bezeichnung 'Sinfonia della giovinezza' (Symphonie der Jugend) vereint hatte. Während 'Sogno' und 'Annunciazione' zeitgleich zwischen 1905 und 1910 entstanden sind, ist 'Alla fonte' erst einige Jahre später vollendet worden.

'Sogno' was among the 33 works on display. Together with 'Annunciazione' (Announcement) and 'Alla fonte' (At the fountain) Sartori united it into a kind of triptych entitled 'Sinfonia della giovinezza' (Symphony of youth). Whereas 'Sogno' and 'Annunciazione' had been created between 1905 and 1910, 'Alla fonte' was completed only some years later.
