Collection of 4 decks: Steamboat 999 Deck, circa 1912, Cincinnati, The U.S. Playing Card Co./Russell & Morgan Factories, 52 of 52 cards plus joker. Steamboat No. 999 was the first new brand added to the original Russell & Morgan line. It was introduced in 1883 and was the cheapest deck they offered for sale in order to meet competition as other playing card manufacturers had a "Steamboat" brand. Double-ended courts, indices, round corners, the joker depicts a steamboat. Backs are snowflakes in diagonal grid in red. Includes tuck box. Dawson, 88, US7c. Box with some wear. -- Bicycle No. 808, circa 1915, Cincinnati, The U.S. Playing Card Co./Russell & Morgan Factories, 52 of 52 cards plus joker and two extra cards. This deck has the most common of the early aces used on the Bicycle brand. Double-ended courts, indices, round corners, the joker depicts king wearing a crown and riding a bicycle. Backs have attractive design of a double-ended cupid riding a bicycle. Includes tuck box. Tuck box slightly worn. Dawson, 90, US8c. -- Congress No. 606, circa 1909, Cincinnati, The U.S. Playing Card Co.Russell & Morgan Factories, 52 of 52 cards plus joker. This ace of spades was used from 1899 to 1922 and was fairly common. Double-ended courts, indices, round corners, the joker depicts a picture of the Capital and is full gold edged. Backs are full color portrait of Pocahontas within gold border. Two piece top slide red box with remains of tax stamp, Act of 1894 (valid 1894-1917). Box is worn. Dawson, 87, US6f. -- Advertising Deck, circa 1920, Petoskey, MI, Petoskey Portland Cement Co., 52 of 52 cards plus joker and extra card. Double-ended courts, indices, round corners, full gilt edges. Ace of spades depicts company logo, joker depicts bag of Petoskey Rock Cement with Indian logo. Backs are double-ended Petoskey logo with Indian against red background and gold borders.
