This work is sold with a certificate by Robert and Nicolas Descharnes. It is recorded in the Archives under no. D-2697/1053.

The present work was executed after the study for the painting Santiago El Grande, 1957 (Descharnes, no. 1113), in preparation for one of the plates in Dalí's illustrated book Don Quichotte (1957-1964).
