with cartouche reading NEWTON'S New & Improved Celestial Globe. LONDON: Newton, Son & Berry, Chancery Lane, made up of twelve delicately hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, laid to the celestial poles, the equatorial graduated in degrees, hours and minutes, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils, the four colures graduated in degrees, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures and scientific instruments, the stars shown to five orders of magnitude, raised on three baluster turned legs united by cross stretchers
