Lot Essay

Borg drones never slept. Instead, they used alcoves to regenerate and to commune through their hive mind. We first saw this on the Borg ship in "Q, Who?" in Star Trek: The Next Generation which introduced the deadly Borg to the Star Trek universe. Through the communal regeneration process, the alcoves were a key part of the eventual downfall of the Borg Queen in Star Trek: Voyager. The Borg alcoves were redesigned slightly for their theatrical debut in Star Trek: First Contact. The new alcoves subsequently appeared in Borg ships in Star Trek: Voyager and found a home in the cargo bay when beautiful Borg drone Seven of Nine, played by Jeri Ryan, took residence aboard the good ship Voyager. These alcoves were also featured in the film produced by Paramount Parks for the Star Trek Borg 4D attraction at Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton.
