Lot Essay

In the original Star Trek series, Klingons wore heavy makeup, bushy eyebrows, and the men had beards. Klingons first grew ridged foreheads in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, thanks to the film's larger budget. Makeup artist Fred Phillips was responsible for the original Klingon ridges, while these appliances were prepared under the supervision of Michael Westmore.
