Lot Essay

The Runabout was designed by Emmy and Hugo award-winning artist Rick Sternbach. The model was built by Tony Meininger. Three runabouts were assigned to Station Deep Space Nine, but they kept being destroyed by hostile aliens. Of the original three only the durable Rio Grande survived the entire run of the series. Each time the model was used to represent a different runabout, the registry number decal was changed.
