A Collection of Voyages and Travels, some now first Printed from Original Manuscripts, others now first Published in English. London: Messrs. Churchill for John Walthoe, Thomas Wotton and others, 1732. 6 volumes, 2° (355 x 220mm). List of subscribers with engraved arms of subscribers, 2 engraved frontispieces and engraved portraits of John Nieuhoff and Philip Baldaeus, 163 engraved plans, maps, views and diagrams, many double-page, some folding and mounted on guards, numerous engraved and woodcut illustrations. (Occasional very light staining, some paper flaws and short tears, some worming to vols. I-IV & VI sometimes affecting letters and plates.) Contemporary Cambridge-panelled calf, boards blind-tooled, modern calf spines gilt in compartments, red and green gilt morocco lettering-pieces, red speckled edges (rebacked, old repairs, a little rubbed and scuffed, endpapers frayed). Provenance: The Earl of Roden, Knight of St Patrick (bookplate on upper pastedowns of vols. I-V) -- case and shelf labels on upper pastedowns of vols. I-V.

SECOND, ENLARGED EDITION. Originally published in 1704 in four volumes, this edition includes an additional two volumes. By the third edition, published in 1744-47, the work had grown to eight volumes. This 'very valuable collection' (Cox) is notable both for its wide range and for drawing upon original accounts.
