Lot Essay

The Royal College of Art moved to Ambleside for the duration of the War, and the present work was painted when Rees Roberts was a student at the R.C.A., studying mural painting. It depicts workers creating the wooden bobbins vital to the spinning and weaving industries of Lancashire.
