Lot Essay

Born in Weymouth, Dorset, Rosalie de Meric trained with Claude Flight in France. She then studied with Mark Gertler and Bernard Meninsky at Westminster School of Art between 1936 and 1939, St. Martin's and Central Schools (1939 - 1945), and Medway School of Art, Rochester (1945 - 1948). Her early works were representational before moving into abstraction and ultimately returning to landscape in the early 1980s.
