Lot Essay

Mrs Carmen Sylva Serandrei was a lady of great generosity during her lifetime helping several charitable and orphans' institutions. She had a passion for classical music as well as jewellery which she wore on many important occasions she attended and for receptions and conferences that she organised in her villa. The rest of her collection will be sold at Christie's Milan, Gioielli e Orologi on 29 and 30 November 2006. Some of the most beautiful pieces in the collection are a diamond and platinum 1920 Cartier bracelet, a stylish brooch in diamond and black pearl by Seaman Schepps as well as an elegant pair of earclips from the 1950s each with a centre stone over 10 carats. The sale of these jewels will be of great benefit to the Società San Paolo, a Catholic Mission, the WWF Italia, supportorting animal welfare and the conservation of nature, and the A.N.I.C.C., the Italian National Association of Chow Chows for the preservation of the breed.
