RUSSIAN, 18TH CENTURY
Christ represented against a gilt background, with a large tripartite halo, displaying the open Gospels and blessing with his right hand, the ochre colour of his flesh accentuated with white, fine brushstrokes, the folds of his red chiton and blue himation also emphasised in white, the hem and cuffs decorated with pearl and gold stripes
21¾ x 17 in. (55.25 x 43.25 cm), including the later gilt frame measuring 3/8 in. (0.75cm)
