Lot Essay

The plaster model which was presented at the Salon in 1865, is now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Troyes.
A silvered bronze example of 155 cm. high, also cast by Barbedienne, was exhibited during the World Exhibition of 1867 and is now in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

A smaller reduction is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Les Bronzes du XIXe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 297.
