Lot Essay

In the pre-title sequence, set nine years before the main storyline of the film, James Bond [Pierce Brosan] meets up with 006, Alec Trevelyan [Sean Bean] at the Arkangel Chemical Weapons facility in Russia on a mission to destroy the laboratories. General Ourumov intercepts them and, using his Makarov handgun, shoots Trevelyan whilst Bond makes his escape. Ourumov is later revealed as a traitor who is in league with Trevelyan who is now the head of Janus, the Russian crime syndicate.
