MARK OF HIPPOLITUS POIGNAND, CALCUTTA, CIRCA 1800,
Of usual form with reeded rim & domed cover, hinged flap to spout, ebonised wood finial & baluster wood handle affixed at right-angle to spout, 6¼ in. high, (16 cm.), 17.75 oz.

From the collection of Lady Ottoline & Philip Morell, Garsington Manor, & thence by descent to the present owner.
