Lot Essay

Jacques Chalom Des Cordes will include this work in the forthcoming Kees Van Dongen catalogue raisonné being prepared under the sponsorship of the Wildenstein Institute.

The inscription on this drawing possibly refers to the well-known silent film star Stacia Napierkowska (1886-1945), who starred in Les Vampires, 1915, by Louis Feuillade and L'Atlantide, 1920, by Jacques Feyder.
