Lot Essay

Hobbs was born in Yorkshire and lives and works in Ambleside, Cumbria. The present watercolour was executed in 1987 and forms part of a series depicting a blacksmiths forge on Blue Hill in Ambleside between 1983 and 1999. Hobbs exhibits at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
