A William and Mary walnut and floral marquetry longcase clock
Thomas Banister. Late 17th/early 18th Century
The hood (probably formerly rising) now with inset plain columns, the trunk door with giltwood lenticle and with bird and figural marquetry, with conforming marquetry to partially restored plinth, the 11./12 in. square brass dial with cherub and coronet spandrels to silvered roman and Arabic chapter ring with elaborate sword-hilt half hour markers and cross half quarter hour markers, signed Thomas Banister, matted centre with replaced seconds ring, ringed winding holes, steel hands (replaced minute) and date aperture, the eight day movement with four ringed pillars, replaced anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell; case with restorations; pendulum, two brass weights, crank key, door key
