The Second World War interrupted his studies, and it was only after the War that these were completed and he came under the influence of Giacomo Manzu. During his career, Plazzotta did an enormous amount of commissioned work, such as the Catholic University in Washington, and the Boys' Town Monument, Nebraska. In 1976, in recognition of his services to Art, he received the title, Cavaliere from the Italian governament. In his famous bronzes of the ballet, 'he [Plazzotta] found the ideal medium in which to develop an interest, discernable throughout his work, in the motive of vigour of the human body' (M. Wykes-Joyce [ed.], Enzo Plazzotta Catalogue Raisonné, London, 1986, p. 6).
