Lot Essay

A similar miniature bone pierced fret-work chair and table is illustrated and attributed to the school of carving based in Geislingen, Germany. See Hans and Barbara Holländer, Schacpartie Durch Zeiten und Welten, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, 2005, fig. 130, page 160.
