DIEPPE, 19TH CENTURY
The kings and queens modelled as Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, the bishops wearing caps holding pipes, the knights as cavalry men, the rooks as turrets, the pawns as gentlemen with coiffured hair, one side stained green, in a mahogany veneered box
The king -- 3 5/8in. (9.2cm.) high; the pawn -- 2 1/8in. (5.3cm.) high
