A GERMAN POLYCHROME BUST BONE CHESS SET
GEISLINGEN, LATE 18TH CENTURY
The kings and queens modelled with open-crowns and holding sceptres, the bishops wearing leather tri-corn hats, the knights as sea-horses, the rooks as turrets with ball-knop finials, fitted in a later associated mahogany case
The king -- 3 1/8in. (8cm.) high; the pawn -- 1¾in. (4.5cm.) high
