SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY
The white side modelled as Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte, versus the green stained Turkish Ottoman Sultan and Sultana, the bishops as fous and North Africans in turbans, the knights as horses' heads, the rooks as turrets, the pawns as soldiers, on baluster-vase turned bases
The king -- 3½in. (8.8cm.) high; the pawn -- 2¼in. (5.7cm.) high
