Lot Essay

This balcony railing was first installed in the Hôtel Deron-Levent, 8 Grande Avenue de la Villa de la Réunion, Paris 16 (1907) and then at the Hôtel Guimard, 122 avenue Mozart, Paris 16 (1912).

A balcony railing of the same model was included in the Collectif, Pionniers du XXe Sièle, Guimard, Horta, Van de Velde exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, 10 March - 31 May 1971. The Museum of Modern Art in New York has another example of this piece in their permanent collection.
