FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING OF THE POET'S FIRST BOOK, edited by her friends Mabel Loomis Todd and Thomas Wentworth Higginson. A recluse throughout most of her life, Dickinson's Poems were published posthumously in a small edition of 480 copies on November 12, 1890. The volume proved to be quite popular, and two more printings were required before the end of that year. BAL 4655; Grolier American 91.
