A model of the N.S. Savannah with partial interior cut-a-way
Boucher-Lewis Precision Models, New York; circa 1962
the hull of the model built up from the solid and painted with a deep red bottom, red waterline and white topsides, and detailed with a brass propeller and rudder, anchors, name and a blue sheer stripe, and with drilled port holes. The port hull cut out below the bridge to show the detail of the nuclear reactor which is enclosed behind plexiglass. The decks are finished in a pale green and detailed with jack staff, bollards, anchor windlass, deck winches, cargo hatches, cargo masts and booms, bridge and bridge wings, mast, four boats on davits, gangways, pool, docking bridge, flag staff with flag and other details. Mounted on keel blocks on a cherry veneer board within a wood framed glass case.
