A Japanese kakemono, 18th/19th century
painted in sumi, colours and gilt on paper with two rectangular panels, one depicting Buddha seated on a lotus throne flanked by numerous acolytes, the other with Buddha and acolytes amongst cloud scrolls gathered around a table, all on a silk ground decorated with lotus flowers and leaves issuing from a pond -- 50in. x 26in. (127cm. x 66cm.), porcelain scroll ends.
