A FINE MONGOLIAN CEREMONIAL SWORD
19th Century
With broad slightly curved single-edged blade, silver-mounted hilt comprising guard cast in relief and including small coral and turquoise beads, and fitted with carved mottled grey hardstone grip of khanjar type, in its original silver scabbard elaborately decorated with traditional patterns of scrolls and foliage cast in relief and inset with carved jade plaques, encrusted designs of small coral and turquoise plaques, and two suspension rings pendant from a pair of mythical Fu dogs cast in high relief.
