Lot Essay

These bears were acquired by Gyles and Michele Brandreth in the 1980s and are interesting as they are all 'fake'. These bears have been created to deceive and are meant to appear old or interesting rarities. This is unusually early on, when the antique bear market was just emerging, for such items.
The dome of bears lived on the piano in the Music Room at the Teddy Bear Museum.
