THE MOVEMENT BY ERARD, SERIAL NUMBER 73588, THE CASE BY HENRY DASSON, PARIS, DATED 1895
Inlaid overall with diamond pattern parquetry, the hinged lid and fold-over section with acanthus-cast edge and with a reserve finely inlaid with a floral-garlanded ribbon-suspended musical trophy, the shaped side centred by a floral and acanthus-wreathed roundel cast in relief with a putto scribe, the opposing straight side with two nymphs flanking an acanthus vase, the ends and angles with floral pendant mounts, the interior of the keyboard cover inlaid with Erard within a foliate cartouche, on circular tapering fluted legs and with lyre-shaped pedal support; the acanthus edge to the lid signed and dated Henry Dasson 1895, the satinwood-lined interior with stencilled serial number 73588 and stamped FINEL
