Lot Essay

The American Waltham Watch Company (A.W.W. Co.), 1851-1957 later known as the Waltham Watch Company produced the Cronometro Victoria and Cronometro Supremo models for the Latin American market. These American watches were to compete with their European counter parts, in particular the Patek Philippe Chronometro Gondolo, which was sold by the Rio de Janeiro firm Gondolo & Labouriau. These watches were exported by R. R. Fogel & Co. in both gold filled and gold cases. Research indicates this foray in to the Latin American market was not particularly successful.

The present watch features the Fogel name on the case interior along with the familiar sunburst design, denoting its export to South America.
