2 vols., 8° (218 x 135mm). Half-titles, 23 engraved portraits and 2 plates of medals, by A. Osipov, A. Afanas'ev, A. Grachov, and others after Ia. Argunov. (Occasional light marginal spotting.) Contemporary tree calf, flat spines gilt, with red and black morocco labels (rubbed, spotting on endpapers). Provenance: A. Papovskaia (19th-century ownership signature) -- V.N. Vitov (signed stamp, and blind-stamp) -- Paul M. Fekula.

This rare work contains the biographies, each with portrait, of the leading members of Peter the Great's court; this edition adds the life and portrait of Count Dmitrii Kantemir.
