Lot Essay

Ksenia Pavlovna Tonkonogova was a ballerina who studied with Matilda Kshesinskaya.

M. B. Braikevich introduced Ksenia Pavlovna Tonkonogova to Somov in July 1935. She moved to Paris to study French and often sat for Somov who even compensated her for her sittings. Something is appearing on the drawing which is already good, but it is not a commission, it is just a study for myself without any responsibility.
Letter dated 10 February 1935, p. 426
