A LATE 18TH CENTURY FRENCH SILVER COVERED SUGAR BOWL,
MARK OF ETIENNE MODENX, PARIS, 1787,
Oval openwork body with cut-out classical male & female seated figures & classical trophies below swags of fruit, claw feet, bifurcated, foliate-pierced handles, blue glass liner, the cover with fluted sides, bead border & finial formed as two streawberries on a cushion of overlapping leaves, 8¼ in. long (21 cm.), ALSO a French silver brandy saucepan, mark of Martin-Guillaume Biennais, Paris, 1st standard, 1798/1809, with narrow anthemion band & engraved monogram to front, turned baluster wood handle, 4½ in. diameter (11.5 cm.), 18 oz. (2)
