A LARGE VICTORIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER PRESENTATION BOX,
MARK OF JES BARKENTIN, LONDON, 1876,
Narrow rectangular with fluted sides, the cover richly chased with trailing flowers & scrolls on textured ground, gilt interior & concealed inner cover, the top of which is inscribed with a quote from 1 Corinthians 15:55 ending "O Death where is thy sting. O Grave where is thy victory", the reverse inscribed "L.T from A.I.B May 26th. 1876", 14 3/8 in. long (36.5 cm.), 2 5/8 in. high (6.5 cm.), 59 oz.
