THE COLLECTION OF MR AND MRS FRANS VAN WAGENBERG (LOTS 133-192) Mr.Frans P.A.M.van Wagenberg took over the family tannery and farming business at an early age. He also restored the fourteenth century tower of the castle of Tongelaar that was in the family and did archaeological excavations of an Eleventh century "strong house" on the same grounds. This is where he acquired his taste for antiques and started collecting. Mrs. M. J. van Wagenberg-Daalderop, his wife, had studied art during a year in Rome and became his devoted collaborator. Upon stopping production in the tannery in 1964, he helped his brother Dr. A van Wagenberg in the USA with the selection of authentic 17 and 18 century American antiques especially glass objects, fit for high quality reproductions to be sold at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Williamsburg Foundation, the Boston Museum of fine art an similar American museums. He maintained frequent contact with the curators of these institutions to adhere to the strict standards of the reproductions. Two of his closest sources and art friends were the renowned antique dealer mr. Jaap Wiegersma and mr. Lameris for Glass. He also acquired glasses from Stodel. He died in 1982 unexpectedly at a relatively young age of 68

The funnel bowl with a matron wearing a hoop skirt holding a goblet towards a rooster mating with a hen on a grassy vignette flanked by flower branches, underneath HANSIE IN DE KELDER, 'Jack in the cellar', the upper rim with continuous triangular ornaments, the stem with two inverted baluster sections, the lower with oblique tears to the upper part, conical foot (the foot rim with small chip circa 0.5 cm. wide with connected crack circa 0.5 cm. wide)
