The exterior enamelled with shades of iron-red, black, brown and gilt with a phoenix in a fenced garden amidst rockwork, peony and chrysanthemum sprigs, bamboo and a pair of butterflies in flight, between lotus petal panels above the foot and a foliate brocade panel around the shoulders, the short and lipped neck with a foliate scroll
