A large coat-of-arms of Alexander quartering Bennet and Edmonds in the center, the rim with iron-red and gilt cell diaper interrupted by auspicious objects, three still-lifes on the rim centering the crest, on the back four iron-red lotus sprigs

Lot Essay

One of two services, the other very similar but in underglaze blue, made for a son of Edward Alexander of Chipping Ongar and Shenfield, who married Levina Bennet. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., vol. I, pp. 172 and 210.
