A pair of large scrimshaw walrus' tusks with whaling scenes**

the first, engraved with two whaling scene vignettes in the open ocean, the whale harpooned with a whale boat stove while another is planting the harpoon, the other is a view of the whaler about to plant the harpoon in the back of the whale. The second with artic whaling scenes including sealing, walrus', killer whales, narwhals and several ships in amongst the ice packs. The other scene shows the boats leaving the ice packs full of their catch. Each tusk very finely engraved and composed in black ink. Each [indistinctly] signed and dated along the bottom.
