Lot Essay

The present work depicts Andrew Wyeth's residence in Chadds Ford, executed years before the artist and his wife purchased the property. Brinton's Bridge, an early covered bridge which would later burn down, is depicted on the left.

This work is to be included in the forthcoming Andrew Wyeth catalogue Raisonné currently in preparation by the artist's wife, Betsy James Wyeth.
