According to Dr. Jeffrey Hayes, Professor of Art History, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the present watercolor appears to relate to the artist's full-scale casein painting of 1930 titled Moonlight Fantasy, which was included in his 1935 retrospective exhibition at Marie Harriman Gallery, Landscape Paintings by Oscar F. Bluemner: Compositions for Color Themes.
