Lot Essay

The work of Adam Henein, in both sculpture and painting, shows profound pharaonic influence. In his sculptures he develops the minimalistic tendencies of ancient Egyptian sculpture, paring down the outline, retaining only such details as are absolutely necessary. In his paintings, which recall abstracted pharaonic architecture, he employs the traditional materials of the ancients- tempera on papyrus.
